Think about keeping things the same. She buys a shirt for each pair of jeans so if she buys 6 jeans, she will need 6 shirts. She buys a sweater for every 2 shirts. 6 shirts is 3 groups of 2 shirts so she will need 3 sweaters.

Rewrite and think logically:
- 2 shirts are the same price as a sweater
- 2 shirts and jeans are $62.48
- A shirt, a sweater and a pair of jeans is $82.47
The first 2 statements can be used to find that a sweater and jeans would be $62.48.
The difference between the previous statement and the third on the list would be one shirt so the difference in the prices (subtract) would be the price of a shirt ($19.99).
The second statement in the list is a shirt away from the information we need. If we subtract one shirt from it, then we have how much Kevin paid ($42.49). Subtract that from $50 to get the change, $7.51.
Think logically: 4000 glasses of water are $1.80. We need to know how many are 10 cents. $1.80 is 180 cents so 4000 glasses of water are 180 cents. We can divide 180 cents by 18 to get 10 cents so 4000 divided by 18 is our answer. About 222 glasses of water would cost 10 cents
Matthew will hike on the 12th, 24th, 36th ... days. A rule for this would be he will hike on days that are a multiple of 12. He will swim on the 6th, 12th, 18th... days. A rule for this would be the multiples of 6. 12 is the first number that appears on both list so he will do both in 12 days.
